A crotto is a rock cellar characterized from Sorèl, a current of cold air that comes in a mysterious way from the bowels of the mountains and that maintains a constant temperature of about 8° C in.

In the thirties the restaurant, located halfway between Brienno and Argegno, at the foot of Mount Gringo, was the small headquarters of the most elusive smuggling in the area, mingled with loggers and local people to escape controls.
In 1977 Fernando and Renata Cavadini purchased and lovingly restored the restaurant to its current status, where the Crotto is renowned for exquisite cuisine by locals and our guests who travel from far and wide to enjoy this unique experience.
For twenty years their son Francesco has continued this tradition with success, winning many plaudits and recommendations along the way.
